Refund & Cancellation Policy
How cancellation works, why we do not give discretionary refunds, and the statutory 14-day withdrawal right you have as an EU consumer.
Version 1.0 · In effect from 9 September 2026
This policy forms part of our Terms of Service. It covers cancelling, refunds, and the withdrawal right the law gives consumers in the EU.
1. Where things stand today
2. Our policy: no discretionary refunds
Purchases are final. We do not give goodwill or change-of-mind refunds, we do not refund unused time on a subscription, and we do not refund a plan you stopped using. This is deliberate and we would rather say it plainly than bury it.
The reason we can be this strict is that you never have to buy anything to find out whether it works for you. The free tier is not a teaser: it is the product. You can study, drill, sit exam simulations and see your analytics before a plan ever costs you anything. By the time there is a payment, there is nothing left to discover.
Two things this does not mean. It does not mean we keep money we should not have taken — see section 6. And it does not mean you lose the rights the law gives you as a consumer — see section 4, which we cannot and do not try to exclude.
3. Cancelling a subscription
- Cancel any time from your billing settings, through the Stripe billing portal. It takes effect immediately as an instruction: no further payment will be taken.
- You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. A monthly plan cancelled on day 3 runs to day 30. We do not cut you off early and we do not refund the remainder.
- Nothing is deleted when you cancel. Your progress, notes and bookmarks stay on your account, and picking a plan up again picks up where you left off.
- To remove your data as well, delete your account from Settings → Delete account. That cancels any active subscription too, and it is irreversible.
- A "lifetime" purchase has nothing to cancel — see the Terms of Service for what "lifetime" means.
4. Your statutory right of withdrawal (EU and EEA consumers)
How it works here depends on what you bought:
- A subscription (monthly or yearly)
- You may withdraw within 14 days of the day the subscription started. If you asked us to start your access immediately — which is the normal case, since you get in straight away — we may keep a proportionate amount for the days you actually had access, and we return the rest. Withdraw on day 2 of a 30-day month and you get roughly 28/30 of the price back.
- A one-off purchase with immediate access (for example "lifetime")
- Digital content supplied immediately is the one case where the withdrawal right can end early — but only if you expressly ask us to start supplying it right away and acknowledge that doing so ends your right of withdrawal. We ask for exactly that at checkout, in plain words and as a separate tick, and we confirm it in your purchase email. If you gave that consent and we started supplying, the 14-day right is spent. If you did not, you keep the full 14 days.
- A renewal of a subscription you already had
- The withdrawal right attaches to the contract, not to each payment, so an automatic renewal of a subscription you already withdrew from or already ran does not start a new 14-day window. You can still cancel at any time under section 3.
How to withdraw. Tell us before the 14 days are up. Any clear statement works — email support@alphasierrapilot.com from your account address, use the contact form, or use the withdrawal function in your billing settings. You may use the model form in section 5 but you do not have to. Sending the message inside the 14 days is enough; it does not matter when it reaches us.
What we do. We acknowledge your withdrawal on a durable medium, and refund what is due within 14 days of being told, using the same payment method you paid with. There is no fee for that refund.
5. Model withdrawal form
Complete and send this only if you wish to withdraw from the contract. You are equally free to write your own message.
- To: Alpha Sierra Pilot, support@alphasierrapilot.com — postal address in section 1 of the Terms of Service
- I/We hereby give notice that I/We withdraw from my/our contract for the supply of the following digital service: …
- Ordered on / received on: …
- Name of consumer: …
- Address of consumer: …
- Email address used for the account: …
- Date: …
6. When we refund anyway
"No discretionary refunds" is not a licence to keep money that was never ours. We refund, without argument and without you having to invoke any right:
- A duplicate or mistaken charge — including a renewal taken after you cancelled, or a second charge for the same plan.
- A charge you did not authorise — tell us and tell your bank.
- A plan we could not deliver — if we take payment for access we do not then give you.
- A significant, extended outage or a material loss of what a plan promised, where the law entitles you to a price reduction or to end the contract.
- Where we terminate your account for any reason other than your breach of our terms, or where we discontinue the service — we return the unused part of what you paid in advance.
- Anything mandatory consumer law requires, including your rights when digital content or a digital service is not as described or not of the quality you are entitled to expect.
7. What is not refundable
- Changing your mind after the withdrawal period in section 4 has passed.
- Not using, or not using enough of, what you bought.
- The remaining part of a billing period after you cancel — you keep the access instead.
- Forgetting to cancel before a renewal. Cancel any time before the renewal date and no payment is taken; we will also have emailed you 30 days before any renewal at a higher price.
- Failing an examination, oral, skill test or checkride. We do not sell a result and we do not guarantee one.
- Not liking a correction. Content is revised when a manual is revised or an error is found; that is the service working.
- An account terminated for a serious breach of our Terms of Service or Acceptable Use Policy — for example account sharing or bulk extraction of content.
- Bank charges, card fees and currency-conversion losses. We refund what we received.
8. Chargebacks
If something looks wrong on your statement, email us first. Almost every case is a renewal date, a currency conversion or a duplicate charge, and we can settle it the same day. Opening a chargeback instead costs us a fee and takes weeks to resolve for you.
We contest chargebacks we believe are unfounded, with the account and usage records to support it. An account with an unresolved chargeback may be suspended until the matter is settled. None of this affects your right to dispute a genuinely unauthorised transaction with your bank.
9. If you are outside the EU
Sections 2, 3 and 6 to 8 apply to you in full. The statutory withdrawal right in section 4 is an EU/EEA consumer right; if your own country's law gives you an equivalent or stronger right, that right applies and we honour it.
California residents: our subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You are told the price, the period and the renewal at checkout, you can cancel at any time from your billing settings without calling anyone, and we email you before any renewal at a higher price.
10. Questions
Write to support@alphasierrapilot.com or use the contact form. We aim to acknowledge within 5 working days. If we cannot settle a complaint between us, the routes open to a consumer — the Hungarian consumer-protection authority, the competent conciliation board, and ADR bodies in your own country — are listed in section 17 of the Terms of Service.
