About Alpha Sierra Pilot

An online study and drill tool for student pilots. You pick the aircraft you train on, and everything you study comes from that aircraft’s own flight manual.

What’s in it

The library covers 14 aircraft today, with 1,315 lessons and 8,663 practice questions between them. Each aircraft has its own lessons and its own question bank, written from its Pilot’s Operating Handbook, Flight Manual and quick reference handbook. Rated instructors review the content before students see it.

Learn

Lessons arranged by system and manual chapter, with diagrams and interactive instruments you can operate.

Drill

Quizzes and memory-item drills on a timer, so you practise recalling numbers and procedures under some pressure.

Exam

A timed test that shows no answers until you finish.

Track

Progress for each aircraft, broken down by system, so you can see where you are weak.

One aircraft, one manual revision

Two aircraft with the same type name can have different fuel systems, V-speeds and flap limits. A student who drills one variant’s memory items and then flies another is learning the wrong numbers. So every aircraft in the library names the variant and the manual revision it was built from, and that label sits on every lesson and drill screen.

Manuals get revised. When one is, the affected questions are updated or retired and the revision reference in each explanation changes with them. Sometimes a manual contradicts itself, with a caption pointing at the wrong chart or two chapters giving different step counts for the same procedure. The lesson then shows both places and says the source is unresolved. We don’t pick a side on the publisher’s behalf.

EASA and FAA

Questions and lessons are built from each aircraft’s own POH/AFM, which applies under both EASA and FAA. Check any procedure against your organisation’s current documents before you rely on it.

Made for tablets

Most students study on an iPad, so the app was designed for tablets first. It runs in any modern browser on a tablet, phone or laptop, and you can add it to your home screen.

What it is not

Alpha Sierra Pilot is a training aid. It is not flight instruction or an approved training course, and it does not replace the manual for the aircraft you fly. If anything here differs from the current POH or AFM for your aircraft, the manual is right. The training-content safety notice explains this in full.

Corrections are the most useful thing you can send us. If a speed, limitation, procedure or answer looks wrong, use the report button on the lesson or question, or email support@alphasierrapilot.com with the aircraft, the item and what your manual says. Safety-related reports are read first. For anything else, use the contact form.
