The emergency checklist opens with a handful of speeds. They are the numbers you reach for when there is no time to look anything up, so they belong in memory.

The speeds

• Stall — at 2550 lb, 50 KIAS with the flaps at 0° and 45 KIAS with full flaps.

• Maneuvering — 113 KIAS at 2550 lb, 89 KIAS at 1634 lb.

• Never exceed — 154 KIAS.

• Power off glide — 76 KIAS at 2550 lb with the flaps at 0°.

The glide speed, 76 KIAS, is the one that recurs through the engine failure procedures that follow.
