Fuel, Oil, Weights and Loadings
What the airplane carries: fuel with and without the optional tanks, oil for each engine, the approved weights and the two baggage compartments. These figures sit behind every fuel plan and loading calculation.
At a glance
- Fuel capacity, without optional tanks98 U.S. gal
- Usable fuel, without optional tanks93 U.S. gal
- Fuel capacity, with optional tanks128 U.S. gal
- Usable fuel, with optional tanks123 U.S. gal
- Minimum fuel grade100 green or 100LL blue
- Oil capacity (per engine)8 U.S. quarts
- Maximum takeoff, landing and zero fuel weight4407 lb (1999 kg)
- Maximum baggage, forward compartment100 lb (45 kg)
- Maximum baggage, aft compartment100 lb (45 kg)
Fuel
Without the optional tanks the airplane holds 98 U.S. gallons, of which 93 are usable. With the optional tanks it holds 128 U.S. gallons, 123 usable.
The fuel is AVGAS ONLY, minimum grade 100 (green) or 100LL (blue) aviation grade. For alternate fuels, the latest revision of the Continental service bulletin "Fuel and Oil Grades" applies.
Oil
Each engine holds 8 U.S. quarts of oil. The oil specification is in the same Continental service bulletin.
Oil viscosity
Below 40°F: aviation grade 1065 (S.A.E. 30)
Above 40°F: aviation grade 1100 (S.A.E. 50)
Temperatures overlapping the ranges: the lighter grade
Multi-viscosity oils: approved if they meet Teledyne Continental Motors specification MHS-24A
Weights
This handbook gives one figure for all three maximum weights: takeoff, landing and zero fuel are each 4407 lb (1999 kg).
Baggage
Forward compartment: 100 lb (45 kg) maximum, 15.3 cu ft
Aft compartment: 100 lb (45 kg) maximum, 17.3 cu ft
Baggage door (forward column): 24 x 21 in
Specific loadings
The wing loading is 21.2 lb per sq ft and the power loading 10.0 lb per hp.
